Everyday Negotiation

The Everyday Negotiation workshop can be virtual or in person. The workshop is 2-4 hours, based on client need.

Everyday Negotiation will help team members as follows:

  • Understanding Perceptions: Learn to identify and work with "the pictures in people's heads" rather than focusing solely on facts. Success in negotiation depends more on understanding emotional drivers and perceptions than on objective reality.

  • Emotional Intelligence: Master the art of making "emotional payments" through empathy, acknowledgment, and understanding. Recognize that emotions and irrational behaviors often drive decisions, and learn to address emotional needs before tactical ones.

  • Standards-Based Approach: Learn to leverage the other party's standards and stated values to advance negotiations. Using their own guidelines and principles creates a framework for fairness and increases the likelihood of agreement.

  • Value Trading: Develop skills in identifying and trading items of unequal value. Focus on finding elements that cost little to you but hold high value for the other party, creating more opportunities for mutual gain.

  • Incremental Progress: Master the art of breaking negotiations into smaller, manageable steps rather than trying to reach goals in one leap. This approach reduces resistance and creates momentum through progressive achievements.
